Православ’я і протестантизм в Україні: ретроспективний розвиток, – від протистояння до толерантности й співпраці (До 500-річчя релігійної Реформації)

Анотація

У статті мова йде про особливості православно-протестантського діалогу в умовах України. Щойно протестантський світ відзначив 500-юіччя «бунту» Мартина Лютера 1517 року, з якого розпочалася церковна Реформація в країнах Заходу. А як цей процес проходив в Україні? Аналогічно, як на Заході, чи якось по-іншому? Звичайно, по-іншому, не так драматично й трагічно, аж до пролиття крові (згадаймо Тридцятилітню війну 1618 – 1648 років), однак у гострій полеміці на базі зіставлення богословських концепцій, обряду, культури, побуту, традицій, зрештою – менталітету. Водночас на ґрунті моралі, духовних цінностей, поведінки, поглибленого розуміння євангельських заповідей, застосування притч Господа Ісуса Христа у практичному житті намітилися порозуміння між українськими православними християнами і протестантами різних спрямувань. Православні ієрархи, клірики, вірні не могли запримітити чогось поганого в рішучій боротьбі протестантів з виявами алкоголізму, тютюнокуріння, сімейних конфліктів аморальної поведінки. Тут позиції обох гілок християнства співпадали, які й лягли в основу толерантного співжиття. Наприкінці статті даються аналогічні приклади ставлення православних українців до деяких аспектів буття римо-католиків, юдеїв та мусульман в Україні – в минулому й тепер.

The article deals with the peculiarities of the Orthodox-Protestant dialogue in the conditions of Ukraine. The Protestant world has just celebrated the 500th anniversary of Martin Luther's rebellion in 1517, which began with the Church Reformation in the West. And how did this process take place in Ukraine? Like in the West, or somehow in a different way? Of course, in a different way, it is not so dramatic and tragic, up to the shedding of blood (let us remember the Thirty Years War of 1618 - 1648 years), but in sharp controversy on the basis of a comparison of theological concepts, rite, culture, life, traditions, in the end - mentality. At the same time, on the basis of morality, spiritual values, behavior, indepth understanding of the evangelical precepts, the use of the parables of the Lord Jesus Christ in practical life, there was an understanding between the Ukrainian Orthodox Christians and Protestants of different directions. Orthodox hierarchs, clergymen, and faithful could not see something bad in the strong struggle of Protestants with the manifestations of alcoholism, tobacco-smoking, family conflicts of immoral behavior. Here the positions of both branches of Christianity coincided, which formed the basis of tolerant cohabitation. At the end of the article there are similar examples of the attitude of Orthodox Ukrainians to some aspects of the existence of Roman Catholics, Jews and Muslims in Ukraine – in the past and now.
