THE THEOLOGICAL HERITAGE OF SAINT JOHN OF DAMASCUS:A PATROLOGICAL-DOGMATIC REFLECTION

Abstract

In the article, the author analyzes the main ideas of the theological heritage of St. John of Damascus in its patrological-dogmatic aspect. At the same time, a systematic analysis of the theological tradition of Saint John in the context of theological discourse of the early Middle Ages is carried out. The forms and manner of exposition of the main doctrinal positions of the Orthodox Church by Saint John against the background of socio-cultural transformations in the Byzantine Empire of the 7^th–8^th centuries are studied.
