Abstract

The article suggests various classification schemes of the study of vocative expressions in modern linguistic literature. It emphasises the absence of lexical-semantic differentiation of mentioned linguistic units in the early stages of syntactic science. The article contains the detailed review of relevant scientific studies and enables distinguishing fourteen semantic groups of vocative expressions usually described by linguists.
