The article analyzes the historical circumstances of the afterlturgical service of bishop of Donetsk and Luhansk Polycarp (Guts) – the first hierarch of the UOC Kyivan Patriarchate in Donbass. The forms and methods of church-educational activity of the archpastor are investigated. The events surrounding the institutional formation of the Donetsk-Luhansk diocese of the UOC Kyivan Patriarchate in the first half of the 1990’s were covered.
