The article deals with the cloning issue from the standpoint of the Orthodox Anthropology. The author gives meaning to the scientific and social status of the cloning technology. Highlighted are the theological problems of human cloning supported by the Orthodox doctrine of a personality. Emphasized is a question of a status of a cloned embryo, whether it is a human being or a biomass. Taken into account that the essence of a human being is not only biological and social, but also personally transcendent, the author provides rationalization for an urgent need of cooperation between theologians, philosophers and scientists.
